The Truth Will Set You Free? I'm sure that you have heard the statement; "The Truth Will Set You Free". Well, that depends on the situation. If you are in a court of law and you state the truth in your defense, does it help? If you don't have provable facts and witnesses to back up your truth, it is worth only so much donkey dung. If you are in the "public view" and hold a very visible presence, the truth can kill your career. That's the reason so many politicians lie. They have to appease certain groups of the populous while not irritating others. Politicians must lie a good bit of the time, or they would be sued or put out of office by this group or that who really did not want to hear the truth. They want the power to control the lies. So, if you don't like conflict and don't want to be assassinated in the press or the courts, it would be to your advantage to perform any lie that is necessary to appease the group of which you are relating. Expressing your true feelings will have you "prosecuted", while the lies "will keep you free". There are exceptions when it comes to any minority group. If you are in a minority group, you can state anything you wish and it appears to be basically alright, but if you are in the majority and you state the truth, it can be taken as some form of discrimination and you can be "prosecuted" personally, in the media and the courts. |
